"No Bag Day" refers to a day when students are encouraged to leave their school bags at home and engage in activities or classes without the burden of carrying heavy bags filled with textbooks and notebooks.
Ramadevi public school observed 14 th August, 2023 as Bagless Day. Teachers planned more interactive and hands-on activities that don't rely heavily on textbooks. Students reflected on how these activities made the learning experience more engaging and participatory.
Students had a great experience on Bagless Day, engaging in skill-based learning activities such as rakhi-making, pot painting, and basket making.
Many students expressed a sense of relief at not carrying heavy bags. They felt lighter and more free to move around, which improved their overall mood and energy levels. Without the weight of bags on their shoulders, students experienced less physical strain and stress on their backs and shoulders. This led to improved comfort throughout the day. Sudents were found more focused in class because they don't have the distraction of searching for materials in their bags.
Participating in creative and hands-on activities like rakhi-making, pot painting, and basket making likely brought a sense of happiness and fulfillment. Creating something with their hands can be incredibly rewarding and boost their mood.
Making rakhis had allowed them to connect with their culture and traditions and such activities deepen their understanding of cultural heritage and the rituals associated with it.
Engaging in pot painting gave them an opportunity to express themselves artistically. Colors, patterns, and designs they chose reflects their personality or emotions at that time.
Students actively involved and participated in practical learning. These experiences have given them insights into different materials, techniques, and problem-solving.
Completing rakhi-making, pot painting, and basket making projects gave them a sense of accomplishment. They started with raw materials and ended up with a finished product that gave them a sense of pride.
