A Session of Guidance and Growth” Career Counselling Session by Mr. K. Sivakaladhar
“Career counselling is not about choosing a path for today, but about unlocking the skills to walk confidently into tomorrow.”
In the rapidly evolving landscape of today’s world, students find themselves amidst a multitude of opportunities, making the choice of a career both inspiring and demanding. Career counselling serves as a guiding light, encouraging young learners to look beyond examination results and uncover their genuine talents, passions, and ambitions. By fostering clarity, confidence, and an awareness of essential skills, such sessions empower students to make thoughtful decisions and equip them for a future that prizes adaptability, innovation, and continuous growth.
The School was privileged to host an enlightening career counselling session led by Mr. K. Sivakaladhar, an eminent career mentor and soft skills trainer.
Conducted right after lunch, the programme commenced with a spirited logo-based quiz akin to Pictionary. Students eagerly deciphered visuals to form words, a creative icebreaker that invigorated the audience and set the tone for an interactive afternoon.
Mr. Sivakaladhar traced the transformation of career landscapes over the years. He explained that earlier choices were largely exam-centric and degree-bound, offering little flexibility. Today, however, success hinges on skills, adaptability, and lifelong learning. He urged students to focus on conceptual clarity rather than mere examination scores.
The speaker emphasized the value of essential competencies such as:
- Analytical problem-solving
- Clear communication and collaborative teamwork
- Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Steadfast focus in a world full of distractions
Addressing the common dilemma of choosing Intermediate streams, he cautioned against selecting BiPC simply to avoid Mathematics or MPC merely to escape Biology. He reminded students that even exams like NEET demand numerical aptitude. Mathematics, he noted, unlocks expansive opportunities, while Biology offers diverse avenues beyond medicine.
He broadened horizons by introducing careers in actuarial sciences, aviation, genetic engineering, toxicology, immunology, bioinformatics, data science, investment banking, and quantum finance. He also encouraged exploration of liberal arts and interdisciplinary pathways, highlighting the flexibility of modern professions.
The session culminated with the RIASEC assessment, enabling students to reflect on their interests across Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, and Conventional domains. Personalized feedback was shared, and Mr. Sivakaladhar patiently addressed queries, even offering his contact details for continued guidance.
His dedication in travelling from Hyderabad and his genuine commitment left a profound impact. Students departed empowered, confident, and inspired, better prepared to make thoughtful decisions about their future. The session was not merely informative but truly transformative — blending wisdom, practicality, and vision.
