“Good food is the foundation of good health—and good health builds a strong nation.”
Millets Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 2nd August 2025 by the NCC students, who took a proactive role in spreading awareness about the nutritional and environmental importance of millets. The programme was thoughtfully designed to combine knowledge, creativity, and practical experience, proving that healthy food can also be delicious.
The celebration began with an informative PPT presentation, where NCC cadets explained the significance of millets as nutri-cereals. The presentation highlighted various types of millets, their nutritional value, health benefits, and their role in sustainable agriculture. Through clear visuals and facts, students demonstrated how millets help in preventing lifestyle diseases, improving digestion, and boosting immunity.
“Health is not a sacrifice when food is chosen wisely.”
Following the presentation, NCC students delivered short speeches emphasizing the need to revive traditional Indian food habits. They spoke passionately about how millets were once staple foods in Indian households and how reintroducing them into daily diets can lead to a healthier future. The speeches reflected confidence, awareness, and a deep sense of social responsibility.
The most engaging part of the celebration was the live awareness session through food preparation and display. NCC cadets prepared a variety of delicious millet-based foods and snacks, showcasing items such as millet laddoos, dosa, upma, pongal, cookies, and savoury snacks. These dishes not only highlighted the versatility of millets but also proved that nutrition does not compromise taste.
“When health comes with taste, it becomes a habit.”
Students, teachers, and visitors actively participated by observing, tasting, and interacting with the cadets. The NCC students explained the ingredients, preparation methods, and health benefits of each dish, making the awareness programme both informative and practical.
The event successfully conveyed the message that adopting millets is not a return to the past, but a step towards a healthier and sustainable future. Through discipline, teamwork, and creativity, the NCC students demonstrated true leadership and commitment to national well-being.
The Millets Day celebration concluded with a pledge to promote millet consumption and spread awareness in homes and communities. The programme stood as a strong reminder that a healthy India begins with healthy choices—and those choices can be tasty too.
“Eat right, stay fit, and serve the nation better.”
