A vibrant session on cybersecurity was conducted on August 2, 2025, at Ramadevi Public School by Mr Parthasarathi Chowdhary, Manager of Union Bank of India.
The Resource Person insisted on the following points in the workshop.
1. Need for a strong password.
Normally, people use their date of birth, vehicle number, etc, for their password. Instead, we need to use unique and complex pass phrases.2. Cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is a crime that uses digital technology like phones, the internet, apps, games, etc, to harass, threaten, embarrass or target someone repeatedly. If anyone faces this needs to be reported immediately.3. Do not install all apps from the Play Store.
See the permissions and download apps. We need to think twice while permitting SMS, too.4. Phishing Awareness.
Avoid suspicious links or attachments and check the details of the sender. Keep in mind all these factors before clicking a link.5. Up-to-date anti-virus or anti-malware software.
6. Protection of bank accounts.
Never share bank accounts, login details or OTP's to anyone. It is better not to send your personal information to an online friend.7. Money Mule.
A money mule is a person who transfers illegally obtained money to whiten it. Scammers pose as friends and ask you to receive money and forward it via bank transfer, gift cards or cash. We need to be vigilant when someone requests us to do it.Overall, this workshop on cybersecurity was an eye-opener to all students and teachers who attended it. We could understand how to be safe from different malpractices, blows and terminologies existing in the cyber world.
Heartfelt thanks to the resource person, our Principal and all who arranged such an eye-opening workshop on our campus.
