It is important to inculcate healthy eating habits in students from the beginning to lead a healthy lifestyle. ‘Healthy Food Week’ was organized from 6th August to 9th August, 2024 of Class-II to make students aware about the fact that eating right is a key to healthy living and eating habits go a long way in improving our health and nourishing the body.
On day-1 students participated in Healthy food week by bringing vegetable salad, using different vegetables. Teachers explained the benefits of eating vegetables as they give energy, vitamins, anti-oxidants, fibre and water. They also help to protect the child against chronic diseases later in life.
As it is best to eat sprouts anytime from breakfast to noon, we started day-2 with sprouts. Students came up with beautiful and delicious sprout recipes. It was enriching experience through which they learned how to incorporate various ingredients and flavors and came up with healthy and yummy recipe. Children enjoyed by sharing their sprouts with their teachers and peer group. Teachers shared the nutritive values of the dishes with class. It also sowed seeds of learning the essential life skills of sprouting for oneself.
“Fruit is nature’s candy”. The twinkling stars of class-2 celebrated day-3 as Fruits day. The day was celebrated to promote healthy eating habits in students by creating awareness among children about the importance of the consumption of fruits on regular diets. Fruits and yummy fruit salad was ready to relish. In a nutshell, children were found to be quite thrilled and were positive on the fact that fruits are better than junk foods.
On the final day students presented their decorated boxes filled with dry fruits, nuts. They briefed about their nutritional value and benefits of consuming dry fruits. They were told that how this miracle food can boost fiber nutrient intake and supply our body with large amounts of anti-oxidants. Everyday children were happy to share their healthy food with our beloved Principal Mrs. Qamar Sultana.
Nutrition is the only remedy that can bring full recovery and can be used with any treatment. Remember food is our best medicine! Let’s raise healthy kids and be healthy ourselves!! Thank you to the parents who volunteer their time for school events.
The Healthy Food Week Celebration was successful in promoting awareness and ended up with a note that ‘You don’t want to eat less; you just have to eat right!’ Overall, it was a highly enriching and thrilling experience for the students.
